Seattle-Based Watermark Credit Union Announces Grand Opening of New Corporate Headquarters
Seattle, Washington (PRWEB) January 26, 2008 -- After 18 months of planning and renovation, Watermark Credit Union announced today that it will unveil its new corporate headquarters at the end of January. Located in the newly renovated Roffe Building at 808 Howell Street in Seattle, the credit union's new 44,000 square foot headquarters will house all of its internal operations, including accounting, administration, human resources, information technology, lending and marketing, a customer service call center and more. The move to the new location will begin in February and be complete by August.
According to Watermark Credit Union President and CEO Chuck Cockburn, the renovated building will serve several purposes. In addition to meeting the credit union's space needs for the next 10 years, the new space was planned to match the company's culture of collaboration and teamwork, critical components to the credit union's success.
Designed by Interior Architects alongside a team of Watermark employees, the building features more open and common spaces, flexible work stations, meeting rooms, informal team meeting space, fewer walls and only two offices for functions that require more privacy (human resources and auditing). The building's new features will better facilitate communication among the credit union's teams, further enhancing their ability to problem-solve, collaborate on projects and provide quality customer service.
"Our new headquarters will improve efficiency and partnerships between departments and functions which will directly benefit our members," said Sabrina Stabbert, vice president of operations.
To celebrate the facility's grand opening, Watermark Credit Union has planned two events later this month, one for staff and one for guests by invitation only.
"We're very excited about the grand opening of our new headquarters," Cockburn said. "It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create work space that fits our unique culture."

The Credit Card Game
The credit card game has become a huge business, where household debt has grown to huge proportions. Customers think that credit cards are for free, if you pay on time but if you are a merchant you find out that it costs about 3-percent of the payment. So when you get the little cash-perks and cash backs with credit cards, you should not think it doesn?t come from thin air. Credit card debt has reached to such huge proportions that the Congress passed a new bankruptcy bill last year to make it harder to write off unsecured debt when declaring bankruptcy. Unsecured debt like credit card debt is not attached to forfeiting a house or any other real asset.

Dissecting Credit Card Offers
I am always more than a little skeptical about signs that shout out "Zero Percent Interest" or "Flat Fifty Percent Off". The only thought that runs through my mind at those times is: "Where is the catch?" There usually is a catch. The question is: Does the catch overpower the benefits? That is the question that I ask myself just before I buy a new credit card or enter a sale. I usually find that the catch is somewhat insignificant when you compare it with the bigger picture.

Following a successful six-month trial, ATM organization Link has announced that they are to increase the number of UK ATM's that dispense foreign currency. As well as giving out UK Sterling, cash points throughout the country will be adapted to allow dollars and euros to be withdrawn by holders of UK debit and credit cards. In the initial trial, travelers were enthusiastic about the ability to withdraw foreign currency without the need to make a special trip to the bank, travel agent or bureau de change. The convenience factor, rather than favorable exchange rates or commission fees seemed to be most important to travelers who took advantage of the trial machines.
